Learning Resource Centres
The College has two Learning Resource Centres, both of which play a central role in the delivery of the curriculum and in promoting and independent learning and developing pupils' information literacy skills.
50 new PCs have recently been installed in the main LRC and it has also benefitted from the addition of a Year 12 Study Room in September 2009. The LRC is available for teachers to take classes during lessons to carry out independent research and group work and it is a popular destination for pupils of all ages before and after school and during morning break and lunchtime. Whilst there is a strong emphasis on ICT resources, pupils are also encouraged to take advantage of the library area of the LRC where a broad range of fiction and non-fiction books are available, covering all aspects of the curriculum and wider areas of interest.
The Year 13 LRC provides a study area for pupils during 'free periods' and is well resourced with 40 PCs, subject specific texts to support wider reading and an extensive range of materials to support pupils through the higher education application process.
